Using 2x4 construction makes the new gate strong but very heavy, so the welded hinges need to be cut off and replaced with something sturdier. Not a big deal if you have a cut-off tool. HD removed these from their stores over a year ago when I asked about them. The guy said they would sell them out constantly!

GATE SYSTEM HAS BEEN INSTALLED AT 5 TO 6 OF MY NEIGHBORS HOME. IN THE 3-4 YEARS OF SERVICES, THEY HAVE NOT SAG. INSTALL GATE WITH HEAVY DUTY DOOR LATCH AND YOU WILL HAVE A GATE THAT WILL STAND THE TEST OF TIME.
BE SURE YOU USE 2X4 LUMBER FOR FRAME.
