I purchased these for my mother and sister in Florida. While visiting them in October I witnessed firsthand how well these units worked. Over a two week period they activated 3 times to warn of severe thunderstorms in the area. They were easy to program and easy to use. A built in charger will maintain rechargeable batteries insuring they are always ready.

This product is without a doubt the finest Weather/Alert radio I have ever purchased.
I am a bonifide "Storm Chaser" and this radio is indispensible to knowing where and when thing are going on...

I ordered two more to give to my brothers as a result of how pleased I was to get one myself

Incredible value. Loaded with features
By Steve E.Verified Reviewer from Cedar Rapids, IA on 10/23/2008
Pros:
Durable, Good Sound Quality, Great Reception, Lightweight, Separate Alarm Volume
Cons:
None
Best Uses:
Daily Use, Home Use
Describe Yourself:
Practical
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

To start with, the price was so low I had to check out the features. It was loaded. I ordered it and it arrived in a timely fashion. It actually has more features than I expected. Using the manual, I set up the options with no problem. I am technically inclined but I don't think anyone would have a problem if they can follow written instructions. Expecially nice are the separate LED lights of different colors that tell of an Advisory, Warning, or Watch. And everything works off of information transmitted to this radio including when it is time to turn off the light because the event expired. I liked being able to set the alarm volume separate from the radio voice. I will never know how any manufacturer and retailer can sell such a loaded product so inexpensively. I paid less than $20 plus shipping but most places charge $45. The reality is that I would purchase this item for $90 now that I know how capable it is. I have no vested interest in the manufacturer or this retailer

This first alert radio is what I was wanting. It can be set so that the alarm only goes off for the emergencies you choose. It was easy to program and hangs on the wall if you want that.
