I had a copy of this book years ago and somehow it got away. I am so pleased to have it in my kitchen again. Very helpful and wonderfully easy to follow. A must for anyone who wants to learn to preserve food safely, deliciously, and properly.
I definitely use this book whenever I want to can something. We especially look at the section involving tomatoes. We always have bunches of them to can.
My mom has been canning and preserving foods for over 50 years and she says this book is "the best." I have been making jams and jellies for about 25 years, so didn't really need this book, but bought it anyway, just because I wanted it and the price was great.
It really is a great reference book and would be fantastic for beginners! It includes in-depth information about supplies you need, and many preserving methods, including water bath and pressure canning, freezing, dehydrating and my fave, jam/jelly making.
It was a very interesting read and I found some great recipes I want to try. It made me wish I had a garden!
