I took an enjoyable, one evening canning class--recommend that to everyone. The canning kit used by our master instructor was this one: the Ball 11102 Home Canning Kit. (I didn't know that at the time of the class, and thus I had to search all over the web to find one that looked like hers.) An essential tool included in this kit, and not found in other kits described on the internet, is the 'head space tool', which does double duty as the 'bubble remover'. If you are an experienced canner, then you know why I'm saying this. Anyway, the jar lifter tool is supremely comfortable to use--I was dreading this part before I actually tried it. But it's rather pleasing, really. My last concern had to do with not knowing who was a reliable supplier of these kits, because I noticed that many retailers were "out of stock". But Polsteins Home & Beyond delivered this product right away---Bonus!! Just finished my first batch of super hot salsa for my wife, and she loved it.

We tried canning some raspberry jelly from our raspbery plants. Very cool. Lots of work, but that's because we only had enough for two pints of jam. If we'd had more berries, it wouldn't have taken any longer, so we'll be doing blackberries later this season, and I think sweet pickles are in our future too.

I love the kit, it works great, and truly has everything you need to start canning. [...] I would defintely reccommend the canning kit, but I would buy it somewhere else.

The kit has it all! It has been awhile since I had canned fruit and vegetables and I had given all of my canning supplies away. The canning kit has everything needed to get back into canning or if you're just starting. The kit comes with 6 pint jars, but it will also can the quart jars not mentioned in the write-up. [...] I was canning the day of its arrival. Great product, price and [...]. It doesn't get any better!
